On the strategy side, make sure you are not using Strafe if you are too close to a group of mobs to avoid being damaged without the ability to do anything about it. Strafelock is managed partly by gearing and partly by strategy. They're a little slow to get down, but hardly impossible, even without gear to break the resist. This isn't as big an issue as it used to be. In the worst case, you can usually power through it with the use of Cold Arrow, which you will need to pick up as a prerequisite and will have some points in due to +Skill items. However, there are some gearing choices you can make that will help this situation. One of the biggest challenges for the Strafezon is Physical Immune opponents, since most of her best attacks, her Valkyrie, and her Mercenary will all do primarily Physical damage. It's just that the must-haves are quite expensive. However, this build has few "must haves" and can be done reasonably well with some budget options outside these requirements. Yes, the Strafezon has a few key items that will require some high-level runes and a very good base item. This is a welcome change from other Bowazon builds, particularly ones like Ice Bowazon, where mana is a constant issue. There are times you'll run low, but you will mostly make up for that with gearing. Strafe consumes about 11 mana at highest levels, but it also "casts" up to 10 arrows in a row, so the rates are very similar. This build is quite mana efficient, with Guided Arrow only taking 1 mana per arrow. From end-level boss fights to Hell cows, the Strafezon can do it all. Any longtime Diablo player can imagine the sheer joy of making short work of hordes of pygmies, either in the open swamps or in the most dank, twisted corridors. The combination of Strafe and Guided Arrow means that open areas with swarms of mobs are easily conquered, as are the tightest corridors with hidden mobs around every doorway. Put simply, there is no terrain where a Strafezon does not excel. Patch 2.4 eliminates this restriction, giving this build a massive damage boost. Second, until Patch 2.4, Strafe attacks only used 75% of its weapon power. This is a manageable problem with careful planning. However, if you're in a crowded area, you can become "strafelocked", unable to move away from danger or do anything else until your Strafe is finished. Fortunately, the AI is somewhat intelligent, so if there are only 2 targets and the first few arrows kill both, it won't keep firing. First, you must stand still while Strafing and the Strafe animation doesn't stop until you've fired all you have to fire. Strafe builds were always problematic for two reasons. With a maxed Valkyrie and intelligent use of passives, this is a build capable of clearing the highest-level content in game with ease. The build gets its name from the signature Strafe ability, but using Guided Arrow gives it a lot more breadth and strategy possibilities. This build is a blend of Strafe with Guided Arrow, as the stronger single-target damage and strategic advantages of the unerring Guided Arrow are too good to pass up. While it only uses one arrow or bolt per cast, the arrow splits into multiples, hitting up to 10 targets.
